Our Staff
During Jay Watts's 24 years as pharmacist, he has owned and operated both Family Pharmacy and Aiken Compounding Pharmacy. His areas of expertise include traditional pharmacy as well as Bio-Identical Hormone Replacement Therapy, Iontophoresis & Phonophoresis compounding, veterinary Compounding, Pain Management, and Hospice Care. Jay is a 1985 graduate of the University of South Carolina College of Pharmacy. He is certified in ACA aseptic technique, general compounding, advanced compounding, ACVP general veterinary compounding, ACVP advanced veterinary compounding, and has attended the ACVP canine and feline therapeutics class. Jay is a Fellow of American College of Veterinary Pharmacists, American College of Hospice Pharmacists, a lifetime member of the National Community Pharmacist Association, a member of International Academy of Compounding Pharmacists, and the South Carolina Pharmacist Association. Furthermore, he serves as the Vice-President of the American College of Apothecaries. In 2009, Jay's daughter Brandi, has joined the family business after graduating from the USC College of Pharmacy.
Dr. Tracie Mims received her Doctorate of Pharmacy from the University of South Carolina College of Pharmacy in 1998. After graduating, she worked for a clinical pharmacist for retail pharmacies and she has been with Family Pharmacy since 2002. Dr. Mims continued her education by taking compounding courses at the University of Florida. As Aiken Compounding Pharmacy's Pharmacist-in-Charge, she has been certified in Aseptic Technique and Risk Level III, Diabetes Management, and Immunization of Adults as a part of her continuing education. Currently, she works with physical therapists, athletic trainers, veterinarians and hospice groups to specially formulate medication for the individual requirements. Her areas of exemplary knowledge include pain management, aseptic technique, and veterinary medicine.
Brandi Johnson is the newest adition to our team of Pharmacists. She graduated in May of 2009 with a Doctorate of Pharmacy from the University of South Carolina. Brandi is the daughter of our owner and pharmacist, Jay Watts. She has grown up in the profession of pharmacy and is committed to providing individualized and exceptional service in a fast-paced, modernized profession. Brandi is certified in providing immunizations and diabetes managment. She is excited about starting her pharmacy career and broadening her horizons in the art of compounding pharmacy.
Laura Shelley, a salutatorian from Archibald Rutledge Academy, has been working with Aiken Compounding Pharmacy since its inception. She has eighteen years of experience as a certified pharmacy technician. She is nationally certified by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board. Also, she has completed the National Association of Compounding Pharmacists certification process in Aseptic Technique Risk III. Her areas of experience include sports medicine, hospice pain, aseptic technique, and veterinary formulations. As our pharmacy technician and office manager, Mrs. Shelley is required to complete at least twenty hours of continuing education biannually since 1998.
Laura Sellers is a compounding technician who is attending USC-Aiken to pursue a career in pharmacy. She has been with family Pharmacy since 2007.
Jenny is a pharmacy technician who started has been with us since 2007 and is attending Midlands Technical college to be certified as a pharmacy technician.
